The following year, the University of Windsor held their second annual Film Festival. Min Bae had organized a larger, more dedicated crew to help bring the Festival together. The theme was “Film as Art”. The Festival was only one day, as we only had 31 film submissions; we ended up playing 9 of those films, which were selected by a jury panel, made up of Professors and Graduate Students.
Our team of hard working students and professors put up posters all around Windsor, and the Tecumseh area, to let the community know about the University’s Film Festival. We all worked together to design posters, postcards, bookmarks and advertisements for the upcoming Festival, we wanted to get as many people to come out as we could. The day before the actual Film Festival we had organized live music to co-ordinate with the UFF advertisements we had created, to generate awareness about the Film Festival.
We set up shop in the most exposed parking lot, along the main road, and as dedicated as we were, we braved the cold for a few hours. We had a much bigger venue then the previous year, we could now sit 450 available seats. Although we did not fill house, we did manage to pack in over 100 people, as we ran out of programs for the night. We sold UFF t-shirts that we designed and had a raffle for the audience, for those that wanted to participate. We raffled off one of our UFF t-shirts and a movie.
We also handed out survey’s to our audience to get feedback from them about what they thought, over all our feed back was pleasant, and we had some helpful suggestions, that we plan to integrate into our third annual Film Festival.
